The Old Rep Theatre are delighted to announce that we will be working in partnership with practitioners from Bostin’ Creative.
Clare Palethorpe and Emily Summers are returning to the theatre, after the success of Theatre Experience Summer School in 2018, to lead The Old Rep’s recently announced Youth Theatre. Clare has been working in the industry over the last 20 years as a choreographer and director (Rubix Dance, BBC, Birmingham Hippodrome). Most Recently Emily has mainly been working as an actor, director and a theatre maker. In 2012 her one women show ‘All Turn’ debuted at the Edinburgh Fringe Festival where it received 5 star reviews.
Clare and Emily formed Bostin’ Creatives in 2018 and after receiving Arts Council Funding in 2019 were able to work in collaboration with local schools and Birmingham Pen Museum to create the original piece of promenade theatre ‘Forewords’.
“We create projects designed to integrate, invigorate and inspire, whether that's within education, the local community or working alongside fellow professionals. We are so excited to be launching The Old Rep Youth Theatre this September,” said Clare and Emily, “Together as a company we will build and devise a brand new piece of innovative theatre, with musical razzmatazz and the history of The Old Rep and Birmingham at its core. We want to encourage dynamic young artists with different skillets to work together to develop their craft, themselves and one another.”
The Old Rep’s Youth Theatre will begin on Tuesday 10th September and will run until mid-February 2020 every Tuesday evening. Sessions will be split into Junior (8 – 13 Year Olds) and Senior (14 – 19 Year Olds) groups. For more information or to secure your space, call our Box Office on 0121 359 9444 (open Monday-Friday 10am-5pm), or visit our Youth Theatre Page.
