HMS Pinafore pokes fun at the British class system and the promotion of unqualified people to positions of power. Josephine, the daughter of Captain Corcoran, falls for the lowly sailor Ralph Rackstraw, but her father is set on her marrying Sir Joseph Porter, the rather pompous First Lord of the Admiralty. This popular and funny show features some of Gilbert's wittiest characters and Sullivan’s most memorable music, including When I Was A Lad, Never Mind the Why and Wherefore and I'm Called Little Buttercup.
