One year without live performances at The Old Rep

Back in March 2020 we took the difficult decision following guidance to close the venue due to the growing Covid-19 pandemic across the world. Today marks one year to the day we closed our doors after the last performance on our stage. Little did we know that would also be the last performance in 2021.

This past year we have saw such a raw passion for the Arts, Theatre and Entertainment industry - for that we will forever be thankful for all your help, donations, kind words and support. We must say we miss you all very much. You are more than just an audience, you are the friends and family of The Old Rep Theatre. Being in the building just does not feel the same without you. We miss the conversations, social interactions, the atmosphere, familiar faces and most of all seeing the smiles and laughter of people in the venue.

The world has continued to come together to support one another. The magic of theatre lies in its live performances and it's not something that can be experienced the same way remotely.  The ability of live theatre to lift people and entertain people even in times of difficulty is unparalleled and so we are extremely grateful for everyone’s continued support of our historical venue.

A few weeks ago the Government released their road map plan out of Lockdown. We are hoping that in Stage 4 (scheduled for 21 June, may be later) that we will be able to re-open the venue, however this is not set in stone. For any show updates please visit our News page, and visit Gov.uk for news on Government guidelines and changes.

We hope to see you all very soon at the theatre and when we do - what an amazing celebration it will be for everyone!

Stay safe, The Old Rep team.

"To enter a theatre for a performance is to be inducted into a magical space, to be ushered into the sacred arena of the imagination"   Simon Callow

We are still working towards our target of £10,000 for our CrowdFunder - it is still live until Friday 30th April 2021. We are still facing a loss of income from ticket sales, merchandise and bars, as well as missing out on the opportunity for our traditional bucket collection. This is why we’d like to invite you to take part in a virtual bucket collection this season.

All donations will be used for the upkeep and restoration of our stage, lighting, sound equipment and auditorium. Please share this page with all friends and family. Donate by clicking below.
