Access Information

At The Old Rep we will do whatever we can to ensure that all visitors enjoy their time with us! If you require any guidance or help getting to your seat please ask one of our Front of House team, dressed in a Black t-shirt, who will be happy to help.

Due to the age of the theatre and its Grade II listed status, we do have a lot of stairs, no lifts and the auditorium is quite steeply raked. If you are unable to climb stairs we recommend that you use our Hinckley Street entrance for step-free access and do not book seating in the balcony as this is only accessible by stairs.

Not all disabilities are visible. A non-visible disability is a disability or health condition that is not immediately obvious. It can defy stereotypes of what people might think disabled people look like.

This can make it difficult for people with non-visible disabilities to access what they need. The impact of living with a non-visible disability can be slight, or can have a huge effect on someone’s life. Please be mindful of this when booking or attending an event.

wheelchair seating

Wheelchair positions are located in the first row of the stalls (seats AA2 and AA8). These spaces cannot be booked online to ensure that we are always able to accommodate wheelchair users. Carers/disabled companions are eligible for a complimentary ticket to sit next to the wheelchair user. Please call the Box Office on 0121 359 9444 to book the wheelchair spaces.

seats in the venue

Our seats are roughly 40cm in width with hand rests either side at 8cm, and have 38cm depth of legroom. Our seats are reinforced and can comfortably hold up to 25 stone.

If you have any extra seating requirements please contact our team in advance via info@oldreptheatre.co.uk and we can discuss how to make your visit more comfortable.

accessible toilets

If you require the use of an accessibility toilet you will find this in our Hinckley Bar.

blue badge parking

The nearest parking for Blue Badge holders is the nearby Dudley Street car park (B5 4PJ) and Markets Multi-Storey car park, Moat Lane (B5 6BS).

Assistance dogs

We are an assistance dog friendly theatre. You are welcome to take assistance dogs into the auditorium with you or we would be happy to look after your dog in our Box Office or Hinckley Bar.

hearing impaired patrons

For audience members who are hearing impaired, the theatre is fitted with a Senheisser infra-red hearing enhancement system. To use this, please collect a receiver from the Box Office. If you require this service please let our Box Office team know beforehand via email or phone.

relaxed performances

Selected performances in our programme will be relaxed performances which are designed for anyone with conditions on the autistic spectrum or those who would benefit from a more relaxed environment. During a relaxed performance, the auditorium will not be as dark as usual and the sound will be quieter.

British sign language (Bsl) interpreted performances

Selected performances in our programme will be BSL interpreted for visitors who are D/deaf or have hearing impairments.

We welcome everybody to The Old Rep and aim to make your visit as enjoyable as possible. If you have any specific access requirements or there is anything we can do to make your visit easier, please advise our Box Office team.

captioning services

Theatre captioning is a form of live subtitling in which words appear as scrolling text located on a screen(s) located near or on stage. Any speech, songs or sound effects are captioned, allowing people who are D/deaf, deafened or hard-of-hearing to follow the show.

Upcoming Captioned shows:
STARS - An Afrofuturist space odyssey (30 May - 3 June)
