GLU Theatre

GLU Theatre (GLUT) is a co-operative theatre group, supporting the development of professional actors within the West Midlands and offering a central point of collaboration right in the heart of Birmingham city centre at The Old Rep Theatre.

GLUT provides actors with weekly acting workshops where, as a co-operative group, suggestions and contributions to the sessions are welcomed. With an inclusive ethos, our aim is to provide a relaxed, creative environment, providing artists with the space to work on their personal development and work alongside their peers to improve improvisation skills, explore acting techniques and develop productions using existing and new writing.

With GLUT’s collaboration between actors and writers, new writers are encouraged to submit their work to be used by the actors. Writers will be invited to observe the weekly workshop using your script, enabling you to gain valuable feedback and develop your writing further.

The GLU Theatre workshops run every Tuesday from 6pm - 9pm.

Places are free to attend and available for professional trained actors over the age of 18. Places are limited and offered following a successful application.

Booking is essential. To apply for a place, email admin@glutheatre.com with the following information:

  • Spotlight Link or Acting CV (if you have one)

As Britain’s first purpose-built repertory theatre, we are delighted to be able to deliver these actor workshops at The Old Rep and tread the boards in the footsteps of Sir Lawrence Olivier, Brian Cox, Dame Edith Evans, Albert Finney and many more notable actors who developed their craft on The Old Rep stage.
